Last year, at this time, I was still riding my motorcycle to work. Happy to say that this year it is much colder and the bike is safely stored away for winter. Summer and Fall trail projects have been abundant and productive. We cleaned up lots of old glass from Tevya’s North Beach, removed tons of old tires from Andre’s, acquired our two new ATV and drag set ups, drove them in the Brookline July 4th parade, cut new trails through Andre’s & Russell Hill, removed many rocks from trails, and had the best trail clearing day in recent memory.
I’ll pause to give special thanks to The New England Mud Hawgs, Souhegan Valley Motorsports, Amherst Motorsports, Chappell Tractor, Chrysanthi’s, State Line Custom Floors, and all our members for the incredible support.
We recently won a trail project award/grant for new directional signs throughout town and we are working hard at completing that for this winter. Thanks to the Raymond S. Burton Memorial Trail Project Grant.
We’re excited to resume with our Annual Poker Run Event this season. Last year the lake’s ice conditions and snow totals never cooperated. However, the date is set for Feb. 18, 2017 so mark your calendars!
What’s next? Your membership renewals!
It’s already cold and there is some snow on the ground. Your early action on renewing membership to the IceBreakers really helps pump up our depleting bank account to gear up for grooming. Don’t wait and scramble last second. You can get this done online Right Now. It’s easy, just click the image:
Our OHRV Safety Class led by Patricia Smith will be help at the Brookline FD.
January 7th 2017 with registration starting at 8 AM. Food and water will be provided.
We do accept donations towards the class – You can do so from the webpage or at class.
More projects are still on tap, including some rock removal on the Ben Farnsworth Trail, bridge approach improvements down by N. Mason Road, and work by the gas stations. I’m looking forward to a great season and I hope to see mother nature give us all the snow we can handle as our Christmas presents.
See you on the trails!
